What do you keep?

Finding something is one thing.

Knowing what deserves to stay with you is another.

Found Money 2 picks up where Deucestacks left off, but the search has changed. The money is still there. The wordplay is still there. The references still move beneath the surface.

But now the real currency is time, inheritance, responsibility, love, pain and identity.

The album turns inward.

Family history becomes something to examine rather than simply remember. A father's influence survives a changing relationship. A mother's losses become lessons. Love demands time. Money competes with talent. Pain becomes material.

And responsibility can be inherited like a job.

“When my dad dropped his
shift, I picked it up.
Now I'm the boss.”

That's Found Money 2 in miniature.

You can inherit a workload.

What gets passed down isn't always money.

Sometimes it's temperament.

Sometimes responsibility.

Sometimes survival.

Sometimes a way of seeing the world.

And sometimes the hardest part of growing is deciding what you're going to carry—and what stops with you.

But while Deucestacks is taking inventory of his life, the language is doing something too.

Words you've heard before begin showing up in new forms.

Ideas survive songs.

References reach backward.

One meaning opens another.

And occasionally the album seems to tell you outright:

Look closer.

By now, you should.

Because certain things that appeared on Found Money haven't disappeared.

They've been carried forward.

You don't need to know why yet.

Just notice what keeps returning.

The Cost of Value

Found Money 2 also complicates the question at the center of the series.

If the first album asks where value can be found, the second asks:

What does value cost?

Money can provide freedom.

It can also consume time.

Desire can motivate.

It can also distract.

Love can give something meaning.

It can also expose exactly what you're afraid to lose.

Talent can create opportunity.

But what happens when chasing money begins taking the artist away from the talent that made him valuable in the first place?

Suddenly Found Money means something different.

Not everything you find is worth keeping.

And not everything valuable can be bought.

Pay Attention to What Survives

There is another story moving quietly through Found Money 2.

You may hear pieces of it.

A preacher.

A Bible.

A Savior.

A mother.

A father.

A son.

A maker.

Mercy.

Resurrection.

Someone chosen.

Believers.

Faith.

Maybe they're just references.

Maybe they're something else.

The album doesn't answer that question.

Not yet.

Instead, Found Money 2 gives you something more useful:

a way to look.

Because Deucestacks' writing increasingly rewards the listener who remembers.

The word you almost forgot.

The image you heard an album ago.

The idea you thought had already ended.

They may still be working.

Found Money taught you to follow the money.

Found Money 2 asks you to pay attention to what survives the trip.
